Embarrassing Loss After Stellar Performance vs Sharks

Defeated after four straight and a stellar performance by Jonathan Bernier. I brought Jonathan Bernier up for a few games from the Manchester Monarchs two days ago and he played his first game brilliantly against San Jose. He stoped 48 of 49 shots while being left out to dry by terrible defense. The only goal he let in was off of fellow teammate Jack Johnson's skate. We went on to win 2-1.

Today was a different story. Jonathan Bernier saved 34 of 40 shots on goal for a 6-1 loss at home. I can't blame Bernier at all, he stood on his head saving at least 3 clear cut break away chances as well as multiple outnumbered attacks. Our team played horrible defense once again and allowed too many shots from the slot which the San Jose Sharks jumped on the opportunity to capitalize. I think the injuries of Michal Handzus and Brian Willsie are really hurting this team. Our 3rd line which was a great shutdown line for us is currently replaced by Scott Thornton, Marc-Andre Cliche, and John Zeiler. That line is not cutting it.

Bad news. I just found out that Zeiler will be out until April 10, 2008 with an injured knee. The injury occurred in the 6-1 loss to San Jose after a hard hit. This means I will have to bring yet another player up from the Monarchs and doing that will further damage their playoff chances.

The Los Angeles King's record is now 47-29-0-5 in the number 4 seed with one game left against Anaheim.
